Introduction

JustGammon Legacy is the classic Android edition created in Java by Emanuel Boboiu (Manu), with the original visual design by Iulian Duma. It is designed for phones, tablets and Android TV and can be used with or without a screen reader.

Playing a game

The Manager lets you prepare a match in one of three offline modes:

• Local: two people play on the same device; the board turns automatically for each colour.
• Against the computer: play against a bot and select the available difficulty.
• Two bots: watch a demonstrative match played automatically.

Select a checker, then select a legal destination. To bear off a checker, use the long-click action when required by your device. Available actions and spoken information depend on the selected accessibility settings.

Accessibility

JustGammon Legacy supports TalkBack and other Android screen readers. It includes spoken game information, accessible checker colours, sound feedback and layouts suitable for touch screens and Android TV controls. Accessibility and TTS options can be adjusted from Settings.

Languages

The Legacy edition is available in German, English, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Turkish and Vietnamese. Translation files remain available in the languages section. Corrections can be sent to contact@justgammon.com.

Backgammon essentials

Each player moves fifteen checkers in opposite directions according to two dice. A checker may land on an empty point, a point occupied by friendly checkers or a point containing exactly one opposing checker. A hit checker is placed on the bar and must re-enter before any other checker can move.

After bringing all fifteen checkers into the home board, a player may bear them off. The first player to bear off every checker wins. A gammon counts double when the losing player has borne off none; a backgammon counts triple when that player also has a checker on the bar or in the winner's home board.
